Purpose & Scope of Position

The Safety Engineer will represent the Project Management Consultant at site, monitoring HSE compliance for 400 kV and above transmission line and substation works. The role focuses on contractor safety oversight, hazard identification, safe work practices, statutory compliance, incident prevention, reporting, and promoting a strong safety culture across project sites.

Experience

5–10 years of HSE / safety experience in 400 kV and above transmission line and substation construction projects.

Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Engineering with recognized safety qualification such as Diploma in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH / equivalent certification preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as PMC safety representative for 400 kV and above transmission line and substation works.
  • Monitor EPC contractor compliance with HSE plans, method statements, permits, statutory requirements, and project safety standards.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, safety walks, toolbox talk reviews, and work-front checks for high-risk activities.
  • Verify safety controls for excavation, foundations, tower erection, stringing, lifting, electrical works, work at height, confined spaces, and heavy equipment movement.
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, non-compliances, and high-risk observations; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review contractor HSE records, including risk assessments, JSA, permits, incident reports, training records, equipment fitness certificates, and statutory registers.
  • Coordinate with client, EPC contractor, site, construction, quality, and subcontractor teams to close observations and improve compliance.
  • Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, emergency preparedness, mock drills, and lessons learned implementation.
  • Track HSE KPIs, prepare PMC safety reports, escalate critical risks, and promote PPE compliance, housekeeping, behavioral safety, and zero-harm practices.
