Purpose & Scope of Position
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for project delivery, design management and project management, for positioning, winning and delivering projects involving a range of services. The role will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, engineering and design technical leaders to create opportunities to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects.
Experience
• 7+ years of experience of leading medium to large EPCM/PMC Projects as Planner. • Competent to use Project Tools such as Primavera(P6) and Microsoft Project along with the normal requirements for Office, intermediate to advanced excel knowledge. • Demonstrated experience of working in large CAPEX projects across industries • Knowledge of Indian statutory requirements and documentation for all project stages.
Qualification
• Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline • Professional Project Management Certification (preferable from PMI) or Post Graduate degree in Project Engineering and Management or Post Graduate degree in Advanced Construction Management • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide schedule input to the procurement bid process including reporting requirements and vendor and contractor milestone dates 2. Supports the Project Manager (PM) and /or Construction Manager (CM) in monitoring and maintaining control of project plans and schedule including key performance indicators, risk management, and change control. 3. In coordination with the PM/CM, routinely interfaces with senior client management regarding program planning and execution. Frequently interfaces and coordinates with Project Manager, Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management in developing schedules, budgets and monitoring performance. 4. Extract and publish four-week look ahead schedule from various disciplines and subcontractors into a master project schedule. 5. Develops and maintains resource loaded P6 project schedule. 6. Develops and implements intermediate milestones for critical packages to manage timely delivery 7. Actively participates in project review meetings and provides clear, accurate project assessments and gives proactive advice to drive successful project completion 8. Flags significant projected overruns or underruns. Monitor slippages of critical and near critical paths and discuss with Project Controls Engineer/Project Manager for resolution 9. Conducts interactive planning meetings and program/project status briefings for internal and external representatives/stakeholders. 10. Analyze and evaluate cost and schedule impact based on RFIs/Change Orders. 11. Re-baseline the plan(s) following a major contract change, to create a revised, viable programme of work for the remaining tasks 12. Identify and assess potential risks and challenges that may impact projects. Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans for de-bottlenecking issues 13. Coordinates with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and construction teams to allocate resources effectively and monitors resource usage and adjusts plans as necessary to ensure efficient utilization. 14. Understands business need for positive cash flow and plans work accordingly 15. Initiate accurate and timely project invoicing to associated customers. 16. Manage the unbilled, receivable, and payable balances on assigned projects 17. Conduct scenario planning to identify potential impacts and outcomes of risks and opportunities, to assist in proactive decision making
